We first came into contact with Spencer when he was a member and sometime skipper of the Good Olde Boys, who we enjoyed playing on Saturdays until they folded. He then played a number of games for us, scoring 60 runs and taking 15 wickets at an average of 18.07. His son Jack also played for us in 2008.

Spen was a great competitor and always bowled well for and against us; he seemed to particularly enjoy dismissing Simon Brewer on a number of occasions. Both on the pitch and in the pub he was a great bloke and excellent company and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
