Annabel Taylor takes over from Matt Reynolds

We are excited to announce that following the club’s AGM, Annabel Taylor is our new M&J Chair taking over from Matt Reynolds for whom we thank for his 4 years in the role.
Annabel has acted as Vice-Chair for most of the 23/24 season and brings with her a number of ideas, but also does not aim to change things just for change’s sake. With Annabel moving to Chair, Jonathan Cirkel will be supporting her as Vice-Chair.
Annabel is a member of our women’s team, an assistant coach for the Girls U14 and head coach for our new U9/10 girls squad. She has played for the club since 2015 and also represented the Hertfordshire U15s at that time.
It’s not just Annabel though from the Taylor family who is involved with the club – her brother Ed is a member of the U15s (24/25 season) and her father Phil continues to coach too.
From a club perspective, it’s refreshing to have a female member on the committee and not just that, someone in their early 20s!

“I’m delighted and excited to take on the role of M&J Chair. Welwyn is a fantastic club with a wonderful community feel and I’m keen to carry on the good work which has gone on in the past but also to bring some new ideas and broaden the opportunities our minis & junior boys and girls and their parents have at the club.
England of course host the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025 and we are in a wonderful position to build on our already successful girls and women’s sections but also hopefully build numbers in the boys’ age groups too. Other key objectives are to develop and support our volunteer coaches, build on the club’s reputation for playing the game in the right spirit and to work with the committee and other sections of the club such as Walking Rugby, Mixed Ability and Touch for example.
For those who don’t already know me, I extend a very warm welcome to not just our existing members but all new mini and junior members and their families and hope you find Welwyn RFC a great place to develop your rugby skills and friendships as I have done.
Please do feel free to contact me (minijuniorchairman@welwynrugby.co.uk) if you have any ideas or want to discuss anything.”
