After posting 192 Normanton St John's looked in command of this P&DCL Div 6 tie at Snydale Road.
The hosts got off to a good start with openers Speight and Bolton quickly moving in to the 30s until the later received an absolute peach from Reece a member of pedestrian bowling attack of Bretton nicking off to keeper Cundy.
The second and third wicket fell in consecutive balls to pedestrian Ledger who soon got his third wicket leaving the hosts 88 for 4 at drinks.
Normanton with captain Ruslin and Ward at the wicket steady the ship and raced to a 50 partnership in quick time and thus began to take the game away from Bretton with Ward reaching his 50 with a pull shot over deep mid wicket for 6.
Several costly chances went astray as both batters escaped with routine catches going down the first when Ward went down in gully for single figures.
Earnshaw got rid of Ruslin for a good 38 trapping him in front LBW with the first ball of his second spell.
Ward eventually went run out from last ball of the inning for a good 75 which left the visitors needing a good 193 for victory.
NO SEND OFFS IN SIGHT
Flynn and Ledger opening the batting with Flynn taking 9 from the first over.
Ledger was first to fall for 10 trapped in front by left armer Garside. Wood was next to go bowled again by Garside which left the hosts in the driving seat.
Flynn and number four bat Crossland stopped the rot and moved the score on before the turning point in the game when captain Ruslin dropped a dolly off Flynn in which in turn would cost 90 runs and arguably the match!
As usual the Brettoner's showed there class and encouraged and applauded the home sides fielding efforts.
The score board ticked over with Crossland 26 and Cundy 20 and also Flynn reaching his ton with a slap to mid wicket. Quick wickets left Captain Reece and McGougan to see the Brettoners home with 3 overs remaining to seal a win and 9 points heading back to Park Lane.
If we've learnt anything about posting 192 against Pedestrian bowling on a wet dog isn't quite enough against West Bretton and when the team is at full strength teams will have to post 300!!!! Only joking
