Brettoner's cash in with the bat to earn derby win!

Barnsley won the toss and inserted the visitors on a green wicket.

The hosts struck second ball as Denny Flynn played round a good straight ball from impressive James Clark which got Barnsley off to a flying start.

The early wicket brought left hander Keith Whitehouse to the wicket who settled in with a couple of positive classic cut shots for boundaries. The runs began to come steadily with Ledger and Whitehouse reaching there fifty partnership in the 14th over.

The hosts bowlers led by Mohamad Zacky kept things tight as the two batters had to settle for quick singles which helped rotate the strike and in turn pushed the scoreboard forward.

At the drinks break the Brettoner's were a solid 93 for 1 and with both batters set with held a solid base to push on and set Barnsley 200+.

Whitehouse was first to reach his fifty with a lovely straight drive through extra cover and soon after Ledger reached his 50 with a 3 to deep mid wicket. The runs still flowed until ex- Brettoner Callum Bailey had Whitehouse caught for 65 at mid-off and ended a good 125 run partnership.

Next to the wicket at number 4 strode Darren Crossland who and in usual started very positive fashion and the runs still flowed as the scoreboard moved past 200. Scott Ledger recorded his maiden West Bretton century with a boundary over mid-on which was quickly followd with Crossland's fifty.

The innings finished with Ledger carrying his bat for 106 not out and Crossland 52 not out.

The hosts started very well with stylish opener Tom Clifford hitting two wonderful straight drives off Danny Earnshaw for fours. The metronome bowling of Earnshaw began to cause problems for Barnsley which in turn brought the first wicket bowling Gore for 4. Wicket number two followed as new paceman Sandwith claimed his first wicket for the club having the impressive Clifford smartly caught at Gully by Brown.

Earnshaw as ever kept his tight spell going and claimed several more wickets and finished with yet another Bretton 5 fer and left the visitors in the driving seat. Barnsley skipper Callum Gough player some wonderful strokes and raced to his half century before holing out to long on caught by Whitehouse off the bowling of skipper Reece. The Barnsley tail threatened to wag as Zacky plundered a quick fire 34 before the last two Barnsley wickets fell in consecutive balls with a run out and a stunning Yorker from Reece to claim the tenth wicket and earn West Bretton 10 valuable points.

The champagne moment of the game was when Captain Reece got Terry Brown to pad up after the 2nd ball which started a legendary stint sat with pads on. Pad rash at it's best. SAVLON required today
