Westerlands and Giffnock North met at Drumoyne on Monday night as the hosts looked to get some valuable game-time.

Having not played since September 3rd, Westerlands were looking for a strong test to shake off any rustiness ahead of their Scottish Cup trip to Cumbernauld Colts on Saturday. Giffnock North more than tested Westies in a frantic, high-tempo friendly that was excellent preparation for the weekend ahead.

A strong North side, knocked the ball around well all game and forced the home side to work extremely hard and stay very disciplined.

A neat finish from McCrossan and a Tevendale second, following an error from the Giffnock keeper, put Westerlands two up. North replied with one themselves, but despite dominating the closing stages it finished 2-1.

Many thanks to Giffnock North for taking the game and good luck to them in their tricky Scottish Cup tie away to Harestanes on Saturday.

Westerlands now look forward to their trip to Colts on Saturday at Broadwood stadium, where they will face another tough test against a Premier Division outfit.
