What a match…..

Cyclones end the season with thrilling draw

White Cross Cyclones 33
East Riding Emeralds Turquoise 33

If you thought the England Vs France football match was tense last night, you’ve seen nothing, this match was the definition of tense!

Quarter 1 Cyclone came out of the blocks at amazing speed and raced into a 15 - 4 lead, Connie scoring 8 goals and Lois 7. Hattie and Maddie supplied the passes with Jess, Eve and Emma keeping the Emeralds relatively quiet when they had the ball.

Quarter 2, what a turn around, Emeralds won it 12-2, the girls looked in shock as their opponents got on a roll they couldn’t stop. Connie scored our 2 goals, but great credit should be given to Emeralds for a fantastic come back when most other sides might have thrown in the towel being 15-4 down. The score line at the end of quarter 2 was now 17-16, just in Cyclones favour.

Quarter 3 was a tight affair with the Cyclone girls regaining some composure following some calming words from Captain Hattie at the interval, the Cyclone girls won the quarter just, 7-6, giving a match score line of 24-22 in White Cross’s favour.

So all to play for in the final quarter, and it was Emeralds who came out blazing, they scored 5 unanswered goals to take a 3 shot lead, then the Cyclone girls hit back bringing the scores level, the lead then exchanged a couple of times with Cyclone finally regaining the lead with 30 seconds left, Emeralds were not done, and they equalised in the very last second to end a fixating match which could have been won by either side, the match ending in an incredible 33-33 draw.

So the end of the pre Christmas Winter League campaign, the girls gave their all and should be very proud of their efforts. We started with 2 wins, followed by a narrow defeat to Chevrons, we then went on a 5 game winning run before ending with the amazing draw, I believe we have finished the season in a fantastic 2nd place!

Emma, Eve, Mathilda, Amy, Lucy, Jess, Alice, Hattie, Maddie, Elisa, Lois and Connie, what a bunch! Friendly, hard working and fun loving!

Merry Christmas All.
