Great squad effort

?Cyclone produce a gem of a performance to produce big win!?

White Cross Cyclone 53
East Riding Emeralds Turquoise 14

An outstanding performance by the whole Cyclone squad saw them convincingly defeat Emeralds, which was their 3rd successive victory over them, and in doing so they mustered their highest ever score.

The big win, and Chevrons Red defeating HKR, sees Cyclone move up a place to 2nd in the Under 15’s Division 1 table.

Quarter 1 saw Cyclone start the match with a high tempo, and they never really let their foot of the gas the whole match. Ruby and Erin worked well as a pair, and their shot accuracy was good with Erin scoring 5 goals and Ruby 7. Jess, Maddie and Brooke worked hard supplying Erin and Ruby the ball and Lucy and Ava restricted Emeralds shooting opportunities with strong defence, giving a score line of 12:2 at the end of the quarter in Cyclone’s favour.

Quarter 2 saw Cyclone carry on where they left off with another powerful display, Erin and Ruby both were having a good shooting day with Erin bagging 6 and Ruby 5 as they again gelled well together. Brooke was proving to be commanding at centre and Maddie and Jess forced errors from their opponents and passed crisply in mid court. Lucy covered a lot of court to thwart Emeralds attacks and Ava positioned herself well and made it difficult for their shooters. The quarter ended 11:4 to Cyclone giving a half time score of Cyclone 23 Emeralds 6.

Quarter 3 was to be Emeralds best quarter seeing them score 6 goals, but Cyclone were always in control scoring 12 themselves. Erin scored 7 goals and Ruby 5 as they continued to shoot and move well. Daisy who had come on at Wing Attack straight away got into the game passing well, Brooke, with her high work rate, ran her self into the ground and Jess did the business as usual at Wing Defence. Jolie, coming on at Goalkeeper made some useful rebounds and combined well with Lucy who continued to give her all.Cyclone winning the quarter 12:6 to take the score line to 35:13 in their favour.

Quarter 4 saw Cyclone play some of the best netball they’ve played as they dominated to win the quarter 18:1. Ruby scored 10 goals and Erin 8, the goals were shared incredibly evenly throughout the match with just one goal between the two girls, Ruby scoring 27 and Erin 26. Jess moving to Centre was cool and calm as ever passing and disrupting well, Daisy supplied good ball to the shooters as she continues to gel in well to the squad and Maddie, who’d moved to Wing Defence, intercepted and passed well. Lucy, who must have had 3 weetabix for breakfast, never stopped running all morning and Jolie was very hard to pass as Emeralds were restricted to just 1 goal. This gave a final score line of 53:14 to Cyclone.

A great all round display by the girls, when they play like that, they are a match for anyone, great to watch and enjoyed by all.
