The evening will deliver BLOCK 1 of the new RFL’s 2015 initiative Embed the Pathway program.

Wigan Warriors Coach Education Team will be delivering all three blocks throughout 2015 to as get as many community coaches up accredited as possible.

When a coach has attended these three blocks then they will become accredited by the RFL which in turn will also accredit the club in which they coach at.

‘Embed the Pathway’ is a coaching programme supported by Gillette that aims to increase the number of quality 12-14 year old Rugby League players through the education and training of children's coaches. It is the belief of the RFL Performance Department and Gillette that every young player from 12 years old is on the England Talent Pathway. This “scheme of work” is a programme of Coach Education, Inclusive Player Profiling and 24 sessions that can be used and adapted to meet the needs of young players at any stage.

This will lead to:

• Improved quality of the player
• Leave the player in their own environment longer – increased inclusivity
• More players getting more opportunities to demonstrate their potential
• Regular; focussed, player profiling

During these three blocks there are 4 areas that will be covered:

• Coachability – how do player behaviours and attitudes contribute to development
• Mental Attributes – introducing sports psychology to the young player
• Game - Technical aspects specific to Rugby League
• Movement – the ability of the young player to perform key movements with control and accuracy, vital for their physical literacy

Wigan Warriors aim wishe to extend this opportunity to all community coaches so please spread the word.

Although only Level 2 coaches can be accredited everyone is welcome to attend the workshop.
