On showery afternoon Wilton travelled up north to Collingbourne for the 6th match of the season. The skipper won the toss in the sunshine & decided to bowl. Shower number one arrived straight after the toss so after a short delay Collingbourne sent two hitters out to open the batting. Dilson opened the bowling with Ian and they were hit, the bowlers were switched for Warnie & the skipper but the result was the same, they were hit. Macca & Conor came on but the outcome remained the same, they were hit. Collingbourne had reached 184 without loss by drinks. A few overs after drinks Wilton made a breakthrough when Shreyash took a good catch off Conor’s bowling to remove Montgomery for 92. The onslaught slightly slowed down but it continued as the bowling changes continued with Shreyash & Rob also turning their arm over. In the penultimate over Ian bowled Hitchmough for 182. Collingbourne ended on an impressive 325-2 due to quality batting rather than poor bowling or fielding. Wilton only bowled 2 wide and 1 no ball and didn’t drop any easy chances in the field.
An excellent tea was provided by Collingbourne during the second downpour of the match so no focaccia news
During the first over Wilton exceeded the required run rate, but that was the only time that was to occur. Rob and Nick put on an opening stand of 40 before Nick was caught at mid off for 18. Shreyash & Stu soon followed and after a quick cameo of 23 from the skipper Wilton were 89 for 4 at drinks. After drinks wickets fell regularly with Rob top scoring with 54 and Wilton all out for 127
It was another good spirited match which Wilton were on the receiving end of some excellent Collingbourne batting.
