We re-launched our Junior Academy for the 2018/19 season and it is now a thriving and fast-growing section of the club heading in to the 2024/25 season.
Led by Junior Head Coach Kevin Jones we offer a safe, fun and welcoming environment for any child aged 4 - 16 to learn and enjoy hockey.
We are passionate about creating an environment in which children can learn their skills and grow through our club. We have initiated our, “Junior Club Pathway Programme” in order to ensure young players are nurtured not only during their time in the Junior section but also mentored into senior hockey. We want to give our Juniors the opportunity to play at the highest level they can achieve.
We believe that creating a strong and consistent hockey ethos in our young players and ensuring it runs through the club is the best way to create a successful future for all sections.
Our training sessions are specifically aimed to develop player skills in all areas of hockey. From that starting point we develop the players' understanding of match play and tactics, so they learn how and when to utilise particular skills and how to control games of hockey.
Most importantly we want all young players to enjoy our sport and experience all the amazing things that being part of a successful sports club brings, from social to teamwork, confidence and leadership. We value all areas of sporting and personality growth.
Our training sessions take place at Eton Willowbrook, SL4 6HL. Please look under the 'teams' section to find the training time for your child's age group.
Your child is more than welcome to come along for a free trial session any Sunday. We have spare sticks they can borrow if they have never played before.
A number of clubs in Berkshire and the surrounding areas regularly host friendly
tournaments monthly for U8, U10 and U12s. We aim to enter as many of these as possible to give our juniors the chance to put their learning into game play and experience match situations.
Kit can be purchased online from Akuma, except for socks which can be purchased through the pitchero shop. All children should have a stick, mouthguard and shinpads as a minimum.
