9-1 win away from home

Witney Town stormed into the next round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup with a thumping 9-1 win away from home at Oxford Senior League side Marston Saints this Saturday.

Mark Janes got things underway with two goals in a minute before Nick Thorne made it 3 and then Yashwa Romeo made it 4 in 4 minutes as the Saints collapsed in a crazy spell of football.Mark Janes completed his hat-trick on the half hour before The Saints incredibly then pulled one back through Paddy Cope before Conor McDonagh got in on the act before half time with a brace of his own making it 21 in the season for him and 7-1 at half time.

Into the 2nd half and the Blanketmen eased off slightly - Ben Moses came on at the break for Mark Janes who had done his work for the day. Nick Thorne got his 2nd of the game before Josias Carbon scored what would be the final goal of the day to make it 9 on the hour (his first of the season.) An excellent performance against lower opposition and Witney will play at home to either Headington Amateurs or Kidlington in the next round who meet on the 1st December. That next round is due to take place on the 15th December 2012.
