On a very cold thursday evening Wivenhoe Under 18's arrived at Rush Green Bowl for the game against FC Clacton.
With the game in doubt and knowing that clacton were undefeated in the League the changing room was very quiet to say the least, however after some words from Brian the Manager and once the bell rang the mood had changed 'Let's have it the cry went up'!
Wivenhoe had kickoff and with a pitch freezing up by the minute it wasn't going to be an easy game but the lads showed good spirit and were taking the fight to clacton.
However 15 minutes passed and Clacton had a break sliding the ball underneath Wivenhoes goalkeeper Kieran, to make it 1-0.
'Never mind' the shout went up, 'get our heads up' Scott Stallon screamed, just what you want from your captain.
10 mins later we were back in it with a brillient turn in the box by Marlon Waites (pictured) sliding the ball into the bottom left hand corner.
10 mins later and we are through again with Aidon Reeves blasting the ball into the back of the net.
Half time comes and goes, with lots of words in the changing room and the belief that the game was there for the taking.
A thrilling second half saw Wivenhoe hold on for 45 mins to secure victory, the highlight being in the 87th min when Clacton were clean through to equalize and from no where, Liam Dadds pulls off the tackle of the match to save the game.
This was an outstanding performance from every player on that night even down to the subs who knew we could not change anything on the night.
Well done to all of you.
