Ian Harley shares his thoughts on the defeat at Handsworth and the Wednesbury game ahead.

Although I'm very disappointed to be out of the Staffs Cup. looking at the bigger picture it may just be what we needed. Having not lost since September it's very easy to become over confident and rest on our laurels a bit. Promotion was always the target for the season and whilst a Cup win would be very nice, if the loss refocuses the team as a whole then it will actually be beneficial.

In terms of the game itself no one can question the effort put in by the players but it's on days like this we need to be a bit sharper, play a little more intelligently and grind out the win. The more we tried to force things the worse things got. The key is to relax and be patient. When the opportunity to score arises we must grab it with both hands; we choked 3 tries in the first 20 minutes, and in the end this proved to be very costly.

Next Saturday's return to league action at home to Wednesbury is now even bigger: A local derby where Wednesbury would like nothing more than to derail our promotion push. In games like this, league position goes out the window; we must have a big week of training and pull out a performance that shows that this Saturday was a blip and not a trend!
