MATCH PREVIEW | Bewdley Town are our visitors to the Lane tomorrow

Top Four clash at the Lane!

Tomorrow we welcome Bewdley Town to the Lane for another tough, top end clash. We would like to take this opportunity to send our best wishes to Bewdley who have suffered terribly with the recent flooding. We hope things are looking up & you get back to Ribbersford Meadow soon.

With last Saturdays game being postponed we travelled to Pershore Town on Tuesday. The evening was very frustrating on the whole & we yet again found a side happy to sit in & take what they had at the beginning of the game, a point. Uncharacteristically we conceded a very soft goal to fall behind. After the initial corner, we failed to set correctly for the 2nd phase & between keeper & defender made a mess of it. Pershore punished us deservedly. Going in at the break behind we knew it was going to be a tough ask to turn it around. We had given the home side a lead to defend. Albeit we probed away & finally got our rewards. The ever threatening Kaz Danilian picked out a pin point cross that Jake Webb dispatched with a rare headed goal. With still 15 minutes to go the game was there to take. Unfortunately we didn’t and came away with a point. It capped a brilliant 4 days for Pershore having taken four points out of the top six. Their celebrations at full time confirmed the delight with a point.

Bewdley Town are currently the only side to hand us a defeat this season. A very wet, foggy evening in December saw us go down 2-0. They house an immaculate home record this season, away from home they have had their stumbles, as have we. With forward Sidaway moving to Tividale, Luke Morris & Dylan Hart are amongst the forward line. Both extremely talented & both know where the net is. Currently sitting 2nd this is a pivotal game in the race for promotion. Meetings in the past have usually been entertaining with both sides looking to play. So we have no doubt it’ll be an enjoyable watch. After a fantastic January, February hasn’t been so kind. Not for the lack of trying, the breaks in front of goal just haven’t fell. A new month will hopefully bring a turn in fortune for us. The boys attitude is one thing that remains & were confident we’ll get firing once again.

Our Player focus falls upon Kaz Danilian. Having spent time at Walsall as a youth, he also spent time within Sporting Khalsas youth set up. Regularly coming up against some of our boys in the process. Kaz joined us around October time after conversations with the Gaffa. Where Kaz was, to where he is now is true testament to his character. Not match fit & new to our group it was a challenge of both patience & commitment to the cause. He worked tirelessly to get himself into match shape & took his chance at the first opportunity. Capping off a Man of the Match performance against Wednesfield with a goal to aid the win. Since then he’s gone from strength to strength. Although still moments of frustration, his tender young age is growing weekly. He put in another outstanding performance away to Coleshill to drag us back into the game from 3 down, to go on & win, the catalyst of that victory. Kaz as a player brings serious talent. With a ridiculous low Center of gravity he’s a nightmare for defenders. Technically gifted & pacey he gives us something different to anyone else. He’s scored 7 goals this season thus far & we’re looking for him to hit double figures. Consistency is key for Kaz & with that the performances will flow. He’s an ambitious but humble lad who believes in his ability. With easily 10+ years playing in front of him, he has all the tools at his disposal to go even further. Keep working hard!!

For those not able to access the matchday programme tomorrow please find below our Gaffas notes:

Today we welcome Bewdley Town to the Lane in a WMRL Premier Division League tie.
Our best wishes go to today’s visitors who have seen their pitch disappear under water following the recent floods.
Fingers crossed there is not too much long term damage and they can get back to playing games there sooner rather than later.
February has been a frustrating month consisting of one win and 2 draws in the league, statistics show we’re achieving good things currently, however we’re fully understanding of the fact that we still have lots of work to do to achieve this seasons goals.
In the previous 4 seasons this squad has demonstrated it has the qualities both mentally and physically to cope with the pressure of consistent performance and I trust in it 100%.
We will continue to work hard and stick together.
It goes without saying that today’s game is a big one in terms of the promotion race, there are a few clubs in the chasing pack who are hoping for both sides to drop points today!
We are in football manager cliché territory though so whether we are talking about points in the bag or taking one game at a time, the fact is that these things are exactly what we need to focus on.
If we keep picking up points then it just adds pressure to those chasing us who have to win every game they have left to play so that will be our aim.
We have some tough fixtures ahead but I am confident we have the players to deliver the results we need.
I hope everyone enjoys today’s game and we entertain you.

We wish Bewdley Town players/staff & fans a very safe journey. A warm welcome awaits you.

We hope anyone visiting Brinsford Lane tomorrow enjoys the day & the game!

Cassies
