Wolverton 1st team kicked off the season with a convincing win as they beat Aston Rowant by 6 wickets!

On a green wicket Wolverton won the toss and chose to bowl! Wolverton were on the attack from the get go! A brilliant tight opening spell from Haroon Malik and Idrees Butt kept Aston Rowant to just 17 off the first 10. Haroon Malik broke the opening partnership with some good swing bowling however runs began to flow from Aston as conditions eased up.

Enter Sean Potter who bowled a mesmerising 10 over spell taking 3 wickets for less than 30! However being a bowler short runs continued to flow. Some good death bowling from skipper Jamil Raja (1 wicket) and David De Abreu (2 wickets) aided by some brilliant, tidy wicket keeping by Faheem Aftab restricted Aston Rowant to 175-8.

Time to bat... bolstered with some new recruits this year openers Chris King and Asad Mahmood set about making the most of the powerplay. Scoring at 6 an over for the first 6. However shortly after both openers fell for 20ish apiece. Enter Ahmed Mujtba, a young player who has really developed! His calmesss at the wicket with his brilliant stroke play in partnership with David kept the runs flowing. However after dispatching the opposition spinner for a beautiful straight six, a lapse in concentration saw Ahmed Stumped the next ball. Meanwhile David calmly went about his business and a solid partnership with skipper of 40+ saw Wolverton closer to home, until Jamil Raja was mysteriously bowled round his legs by one that turned??? Sean potter and David saw side home, and all though it was a tough decision our new scorer ( the injured skipper from last year Atif) gave the MOM to David!

Good start to the season! Onwards and upwards!!
