After a disappointing loss last week, wolves were out to ensure it wasn’t back to back losses. A great all round team performance ensured just that!
After winning the toss wolves skipper Jamil Raja stuck the opposition in. And within a few overs Razzan made the break through finding a nick to the skipper at second slip, via a deflection from Mulla Arif at first slip. Haroon Malik quickly followed suit having the the opener caught at by Chris King with a great diving effort.
Solid spells in the middle by Asad Raja and Sean potter ensured that Banbury never got away. Amidst all this wolves were brilliant in the field, Hisham, Jamil and Chris all taking great catches!
With a late flurry Banbury managed to get to 150 off 40 overs, a score that put them in the game! Wickets were shared between Haroon 3, Potter 2, Razzan 2, Asad 2 and David.
In typical wolves fashion they were under the pressure straight away with a wicket that was offering assistance to the bowlers. Wolves found themselves at 30-3 in the first 6 overs. However David and skipper Jamil began repairing the innings and put on a solid partnership of 59 before David was run out after playing a beautiful innings of 46 including a lovely straight six. Razzan Anver made sure there were no alarms coming in and playing a beautiful 30 no and even though Jamil Raja fell for 44 with 7 needed to win.. Potter and Razzan saw wolves home to a comfortable win, chasing the score in under 30 overs.
MOM was a very hard decision, but newcomer Razzan has been a revelation since joining this season, and his 2 wickets as well as a solid 30 meant he was elected as MOM. Well done Razzan!
Great effort boys! Keep up the hard work with a win against Challow next week!
Comedy moment of the game: dropped catch at slip, no names mentioned :)
