Woolston Rovers Rugby League Club Under 10s Golds have recently taken delivery of a brand new defibrillator

courtesy of a generous donation from CPC Civils that means they will be able to have this life-saving equipment with them for all matches and training sessions.

Rovers Under 10s Golds Head Coach Phil Lucy said, “We’ve been inspired by the fantastic work of Ciaran’s Cause around Warrington so as coaches of 9 and 10 year old rugby players at Woolston Rovers, we decided that during 2017 we would fundraise towards buying a defibrillator for the team and when one of our parents and Touchline Manager, Mike Wilson, became aware of the reasons we were fundraising he contacted CPC Civils for a donation towards the defibrillator through his workplace as a Site Manager at Kier Infrastructure.”

CPC Civils is a national civil engineering contractor established in 1985 by Managing Director Con Cunningham. Con continues to run the business with many family members to this day so it remains as a customer focused family business driven by safety and quality. CPC Civils believe that forming strong longstanding relationships with its clients and suppliers is the key to its success and their aim is to continually develop this.

Lucy continued, “CPC Civils also focus their strong values within local communities as it generously offered to purchase a defibrillator for our team, which then enabled us to purchase other equipment for our young rugby stars, such as training tops bearing the name of CPC Civils with the money that we had already fundraised, but having the defibrillator could potentially save someone’s life. The team travel all around the North West so we can often be in unfamiliar places should we require the emergency services. For every minute after someone suffers a cardiac arrest they lose 10% of their survival chances so by having lifesaving equipment with us at all times, especially when a cardiac arrest can happen to anyone no matter their age or fitness levels, we cannot thank CPC Civils enough.”

Woolston Rovers PRO Dave Whalley added, “It is a fantastic gesture by CPC Civils to purchase the defibrillator; it really is a vital piece of equipment to have and we are very thankful to them for donating this and also to Mike Wilson for getting in touch with them. It gives an added piece of mind to coaches and parents to know that this is on the touchline at all times should an emergency occur.”

If you would like to be involved at Rovers in any capacity please contact Club Secretary Nikki Whalley on 07889 170895, e-mail nikki_whalley@hotmail.com or log on to the club website at www.woolstonrovers.com for further details.
