Boys to take to the field at the HJ...

Saturday 14th February is normally known for something other than amateur rugby but this Saturday was different.

Padgate Campus was home to 24 teams at ages Under 7's, 8's and 9's for the day.

Woolston Rovers Greens Under 7's were pitted in a tough group which saw them have to face off against Crosfields, Latchford and Rylands.

First game was a tense affair which saw Woolston edge out a well drilled Rylands side 3-1.

Our second game saw us come up winners against Crosfields who require a special mention after "loaning" us a player after one of our boys picked up a bad knock. The score eventually finished 4-2 to Woolston.

Our final game saw us having to lock horns with a team who we had not played before Latchford. Both teams went into the game having won their other 2 games in the group so this meant it was a straight shootout to see who had the chance to grace the hallowed turf at the HJ.

The game was a hard fought one as expected with Latchford going close but for fantastic Rovers defence kept them out on two occasions in particular. Woolston eventually ran out 3-0 winners and clinched the league leaders spot.

Next stop for the boys is a trip to the HJ on Wednesday evening to pick up their WCS strips presented to them by either a Warrington Wolves or St George player.

Then Friday night BEFORE the WCS game is due to kick off the boys will take to the field at the HJ to pit their wits against the Culcheth Eagles, then they will become mascots for the game so be sure to look out for them on SKY.

Firstly well done to each and every lad on Saturday every one can say they chipped in with something whether it be a run, tackle or try.

Secondly thank you to the parents for their continued support without them we would be nothing.

Well done to Golds Under 7's who came within one game of the final.

Last but not least well done to the Woolston Under 8's who won their group too...see you their boys!
