League Cup opponents stage next friendly
Reds will play their penultimate pre-season match on Tuesday (7.45pm) when they head for the Lancaster & Morecambe College Stadium to face Kendal Town.
It will be a fourth successive August trip to Parkside Road, with Workington winning there in 2012 and 2013 (both by a 2-1 margin) but held to a 2-2 draw twelve months ago.
Kendal’s pre-season programme has produced plenty of goals with Barrow (3-5) and Morecambe (0-5) winning there before Town got the better of Gretna 2008 (5-1). They also drew (3-3) at Penrith but lost (1-4) at Dunston UTS.
The Cumbrian neighbours will face each other at Borough Park in November after being paired together in the Integro League Cup.
Reds should be back to full strength after several players were unable to travel for Saturday’s game at Consett.
