Football on Saturday, fun on Sunday
Borough Park is the place to be this weekend with pre-season action on Saturday and the annual Open Day on Sunday.
Reds will play their sixth friendly when Northern League outfit West Auckland Town provide the opposition (3pm).
West had a disappointing campaign last term, finishing 17th in the Northern League’s Division One, but were runners-up, fourth on one occasion and fifth, twice, in the previous four seasons.
They came close to knocking Reds out of the FA Cup in the last Borough Park encounter six years ago and, no doubt, will prove tough opposition again on Saturday.
We scraped a fortunate 2-1 victory that day thanks to Lee Andrews’ first competitive goal for Reds and a Matty Tymon winner.
Apart from the long-term injured, Reds are likely to be without Rob Wilson who sustained an ankle injury at Gretna last week.
There will be reduced admission for this game:
Adult - £5
Concession - £3
U16s - £1
