Annual trip to the Axe
Reds play their penultimate friendly at Lancaster City on Saturday, maintaining a tradition that has seen them travel to the Giant Axe for the past six years.
They emerged narrow winners there in 2010 (2-1) and 2011 (3-2), but lost in each of the subsequent visits when Tom Kilifin helped himself to four goals in three of those games.
Reds will be hoping Kilifin can maintain his good scoring record in the fixture, only this time for his new colleagues and not the Dolly Blues.
City, unbeaten in pre-season and scoring goals for fun, have strengthened their attacking options by re-signing Jordan Connerton and the ex. Workington striker is expected to play.
Derek Townsley will be sifting through his depleted Reds’ squad and attempting to field a side, without a win in three outings, capable of getting back on track.
Kilifin should play but the other ex. City man, Rob Wilson, might not make the starting XI despite doing some warm-up work prior to the Queen of the South fixture.
