Darlo back in town
Borough Park welcomes the ‘new’ Darlington to west Cumbria, nearly forty years on since the previous A66 derby. Reds encountered the original Darlington 48 times in the Football League era playing the then Feethams outfit more than any other club.
Tuesday’s Evo-Stik Premier Division clash (7.45pm) will be the first meeting against Darlo in their present guise but, nevertheless, it will be good to welcome them once more to this part of the world.
They have made a decent start to the season winning their two home games against Frickley Athletic (3-0) and Barwell (3-1) having lost on the opening day at Buxton (0-2).
Promoted via the play-offs last term, Darlington are strongly fancied to do well again this term and it will be interesting to see if Reds’ solid defence can keep their potent attack at bay.
Reds will select from the same squad that earned a point at Stourbridge with no injuries (just heat stroke) reported after Saturday’s game.
1883 are currently 6th with Reds languishing in 20th spot.
Updates from the game will be provided by BBC Radio Cumbria and the Live Scoreboard facility via the website.
