10 man Worsbrough suffer 1-3 defeat to bottom club

Worsbrough poor recent form continued at their temporary home at Maltby Main with a 3-1 defeat against the bottom side Lincoln Moorlands.

The match started pretty evenly with nothing between the teams, after 2 minutes the away side created the first half chance when a shot from Mackinder was deflected wide for a corner that came to nothing. The Briggers responded well when after 5 minutes from a long throw Portman shot wide.

The home side continued to press the opening with Portman (7) shooting wide from long range, and Oldham (10) having a shot from the left that failed to trouble the keeper. The home sides best opportunity came after 12 minutes when from the left hand side Luke Forgione cut inside and hit the inside of the post and rebounded back into the penalty area but not to the feet of a Briggers player for what would have been the first goal of the game.

After 29 minutes the home sides recent bad run of luck continued. A smart move from the away side resulted in a succession of shots on the Briggers goal resulting in a penalty when Adam Barker was adjudged to have handled the ball on the line, a decision not seen by the referee but flagged but his assistant. It was a double blow as Barker was shown red and Shane Clancy tucked away the penalty.
The home side reverted to 4-4-1 with Portman acting as the lone striker as Worsbrough tried to get back into the game with 10 men and after 35 a neat through ball from new signing Jacob France broke to Portman who fired at the keeper.

It looked like the home side would see it through to half-time when they suffered a killer blow. With 44 minutes on the watch the away team grabbed a second when a cross from Ross Walker was finished by Alex Mackinder.

Half time: Worsbrough 0 Lincoln Moorlands 2

The second half started slowly with the away side content to sit on their lead against the 10 men of Worsbrough. It was clear that the home side were going to find it hard to get back into the match with Portman firing the first half chance wide after 53 minutes.
A series of half chances from either side were created, Ross Walker for the visitors firing over the bar after 57 minutes and Rob Oldham shooting wide for the Briggers after a long throw from captain Nick Galloway.

After 69 minutes it was game set and match as Lincoln scored the 3rd. The industrious Ross Walker again created problems and crossed from the left for Shane Clancy to grab his second of the match and well and truly secure the points.

In what was a bad night for the home team, an injury to Galloway with 6 minutes remaining meant they finished with 9 men after manager Mark Joyce had used all subs available to try and get back into the game.

In the final minute Worsbrough grabbed a consolation, when a cross from the left from substitute Tom Peace was cleared and a follow up shot from Matt Jacobs was finished by Jordan Lodge.
