The start of the New Year witnessed a great battle between two sides who wanted to win. Wortley put there heavy defeat by Sheffield last October behind them, and were determined to play attacking rugby while ensuring their managed their defence effectively. Wortley worked hard and dominated possession and territory throughout the game, however the Wortley attack was not clinical enough. Held up over the line twice, Wortley’s points came from a drop goal.

Sheffield were successful at drawing Wortley’s defence leaving gaps for their backs to attack. Sheffield took advantage and scored 5 tries. Despite the loss Wortley has demonstrated improvements game on game. The hard work at training is starting to pay off and that first win of the season is getting closer. Wortley’s next game is away to Thornensians 2nds 23rd January 2016.
