Sheffield Engineers 33 : 7 Wortley RUFC

A wet and cold November day, but the bad weather did not stop both Sheffield Engineers and Wortley from playing an open game of rugby. Sheffield Engineers were quick to start, and dominated the first half exchanges. Wortley’s forward pack contained Engineers for periods, however once the ball was move to the backs, Wortley was faced with many overlaps. The first half belonged to Sheffield Engineers who took advantage of a slow start from Wortley, and with their attacking play Engineers notched up 33 points to nil at the end of the first half.

In the second half Wortley started to play a more effective style of rugby. Both defence and attack were better organised, and it wasn’t long before Wortley started to dominate the set play, especially the scrum. Wortley increased their intensity in attack and were soon rewarded with a converted try. While this was Wortley’s only score of the game, their intensity and strong defence stopped a well organised Sheffield Engineers side from scoring in the second half. The final score was Sheffield Engineers 33 Wortley 7.

NOTE: Training takes place on Tuesday evenings at 8:00pm at Bromley Farm S35 7DE
