Wotton RFC put in a tremendous shift on Friday, at Synwell playing fields Jubilee Celebrations.The BBQ was organised brilliantly with Gillenberg putting in a lot of work before the event. Stock was purchased and sausages cooked before, and the new kid on the block Battensby seemed to be travelling around the county for at least 48 hours before the 'do' to get various supplies.
The club BBQ's represent the only real way for the club to raise funds to exist, as it doesn't have its own clubhouse/bar, and the players that supported the event are very much appreciated.
Your club heroes for the day were Tim Brown, James Battensby, Jamie Gillespie, Lee Barton, Jack Barton, Ian Goldsmith, Ben Ash, and Alex 'Bosh' Boshier.
Final numbers to be counted , but this was a herculean effort from the boys, a great way of interacting with the community, and a lot of fun was had on the day.
We contacted club president Lee Barton for comment;
"Absolutely outstanding fellas, today putting OUR CLUB out in the community in a very positive way - thanks to all that helped - the bbq was organised to perfection - today was a good day in many ways - Jolly good job Wotton RFC!!!"
There will be more to follow in terms of future bbq's - there are 2 in September so we will be publishing dates as soon as we have them. Thanks to everyone who played their part.
