The sole Gwent County representives left in the FAW Welsh Cup, Fairfield United FC, make the journey to the Rhondda Valleys to face welsh league divison 1 side, Ton Pentre FC.
This is Fairfields first ever season in the welsh cup and they have reached the first round with 2 preliminary round victorys against Liswerry FC and Cefn Fforest AFC.
The Pontypool based side will be going into this fixture with the belief they can cause a major upset and make it through to round 2, pocketing a healthy £750 prize money in the process.
They currently sit mid table in the Gwent County first division but have played 2 games less than most sides. They have only lost once this season with a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Abertillery Excelsiors.
Ton Pentre will be no pushover though. The Welsh league clubs best finish in this competition was runners up in 1922, where they lost to Cardiff City 2-0. In more recent times they were semi finalists in both 2001/02 and 2002/03 where they lost to Barry Town and Cwmbran Town respectivley.
Last seasons Welsh Cup campaign was not as succesful, where they got knocked out in the second round by fellow division 1 side Pontardawe Town.
Good luck to everybody at Fairfield United FC on what will be a fantastic occasion for the club.
