How Richie McCaw approaches the breakdown on the attack:
Get your body to the breakdown as quickly as possible, at 45 degrees.
Body angle and body height are key. Keep your body low and facing the threat. Your head needs to be up to be able to see your surroundings and know your threats.
Get your shoulder under the opponent and move him out of the way.
In front of the advantage line: Identify your threats.
If they follow to the breakdown, execute as usual. If he decides to stay, the ball will be there to be cleared.
If the threats are miles away, the ball could be popped or you could pick the ball up.
