This Saturday we welcome Saracens to Old Deer Park for Round 16 of the Herts/Middx 1 season. London Welsh had a successful visit to Saracens' Southgate ground in October with a 49-10 victory and running in nine tries, including two for Ty Pelasio on his debut. An impressive Welsh defence limited Saracens to just a penalty goal and a converted try.
Since that match Saracens have lost to local rivals Barnet (17-29) and Hendon (10-22) as well as to Bank of England (27-73) and Royston (7-39) but picked up narrow wins against UCSOB, Wasps, Watford and Staines and a much more comfortable 53-14 result against London French. They are currently 5th in the league, just two points behind Barnet. As with all the teams outside the top three, Saracens have a negative points difference and their very respectable 'points for' let down by having the second worst defensive record in the league.
London Welsh go into this match looking to extend their ten match unbeaten run and to maintain the gap over Royston and Bank of England. Perhaps the depth of this season's squad is no better demonstrated than by the fact that 16 of last Saturday's 18 man squad have made it on to the score sheet this season whilst 24 different players have contributed to the 81 tries scored so far.
The match kicks off at 1pm with Wales v Scotland then being shown on the screens in the club house. Bar open and hot food available for purchase. Admission is free!
