Eccleshill United are back in action on Saturday afternoon with their final away trip of the season, which sees them make the short trip to Glasshoughton Welfare.
Looking to make amends for their last game, which was a disappointing 1-0 home loss to Selby Town, Sean Regan’s side go into the game boosted by the return of Andy Cooper from his five game suspension.
Speaking on Cooper’s return to the side, skipper Sam Bradley stated; “On a positive note, Andy Cooper is once again available for this weekend and he will make a big difference to the side and that will provide Sean (Regan) with a big headache.”
Glasshoughton also go into the game off the back of a 1-0 defeat, a loss they suffered away at Ollerton Town, so both sides are looking to make up for disappointing results.
The last meeting between these two sides was in November, and Glasshoughton scored a late winner to take all three points home with them from the Mitton Group Stadium, something Eccleshill will be looking to do as the away side on Saturday.
The Eagles currently sit in 9th place, but only three points separate themselves and 12th placed Glasshoughton. A win for the hosts would see them draw level on points with Eccleshill, which will ensure the game is a hotly contested affair.
Only three points separate The Eagles and 8th placed Campion, and a win at Glasshoughton would set up an interesting end to the season, as Sean’s side aim to finish as high as possible.
The loss to Selby ended a six game unbeaten run which dated all the way back to February, but with only three games of the season left, Eccleshill will want to take maximum points to end the season on a high.
Bradley summed up Saturday’s performance in his latest Captains View, and discussed how his side want to react on Saturday; “Overall, our performance was not good enough and now we head into this weekend's challenge looking to put that right with a better performance.”
Glasshoughton only lost twice in a congested March, but also have a League Cup semi-final against Penistone Church to consider coming later this month, as they look to secure some silverware in what has been a positive season for the club.
Saturday’s trip down to Glasshoughton promises to provide an exciting game of football, with both sides eager to bounce back from disappointing losses. There are league positions at stake also, so it will be a toughly fought game from both sides.
