The referees whistle blew and we were underway. Neither side could take the game by the scruff of the neck.
A scrappy first half, with very few chances for either side. Both teams fired long range efforts over the bar within the first 30 minutes.
Just before halftime, Barwell had the best chance of the half. A powerful run and a nice bit of skill from left-back Olly Brown-Hill resulted in a ball across the box which fell to Ethan Hill who’s deflected effort smashed against the post and landed in the grateful hands of the Bedford keeper.
Half time
Barwell 0-0 Bedford Town
Bedford started the better of the two out of the blocks but could not quite create a clear cut chance until the 73rd minute. Bedford substitutes Sydney Ibie and Bruno Andrade linked up down the right hand side, which resulted in Andrade slotting the ball in the far corner to take the lead.
Bedford looked to put the game to bed and hit the post from a corner, followed by a fantastic save from Ollie Bosworth a minute later kept Barwell in the game.
This seemed to spark some fire in Barwell who had a late charge for an equaliser. Substitutes Master and Hamilton looked to change the game from out wide.
The late pressure unfortunately did not bring any joy for the hosts and to make matters worst, a penalty shout was turned away. Only moments later, a straight red card dismissal for Ethan Hill for what appeared to be dissent.
A frustrating afternoon for Barwell as Bedford take all 3 points with a narrow 0-1 victory.
