Bath Junior Section
Bath Junior Section provides rugby coaching and matches for young men at five age grades:-

•Under 13
•Under 14
•Under 15
•Under 16
•Colts (U17/U18/19)
In accordance with RFU requirements, Bath Junior Section operates a strict age control in all squads, and all members are registered with RFU, and Somerset RFU Ltd.

To qualify to represent an age grade a player must be under the specified age of that group as at 1st September, being the commencement date of that rugby season. Certain adequately developed players, with prior written parental consent, are permitted to play up one age grade only.

The Bath Junior Section is based at the Pavilion at the Kingswood School Upper Playing Fields, Lansdown, Bath.

It is at this ground that all the age group squads (U13 - U16 & Colts Squad) are coached and where the club plays most home matches. Squad training takes place between 10:00 and 12:30 on Sunday mornings and on designated weekday evenings between 18:15 and 20:30. The weekday evening training varies for different age grades and details will be made available in due course.

The Bath Junior Section is well-established, and is committed to producing players who will remain in the game at local Club level, as well as those players who have gone on to attain representation at district, county, regional, international, and premiership levels.

We are proud that each season, members of the Bath Juniors are well represented at various District and County Levels; we continue to provide players to the Bath & England Academy, with whom we have a good relationship.

Many of our players go on to play adult rugby within the Bath Combination Clubs and beyond, and Bath Youth Rugby remains a successful, and recognised, pathway for local Coach development.

The activities of Bath Junior Section are controlled by a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Fixture Secretary and General Committee Members, and the Junior Section has close contact with the Committee of Bath Mini Section, as both Sections form Bath Youth Rugby.

Bath Youth Rugby is an unincorporated association that promotes youth rugby in the local community. Although Bath Youth Rugby has links with Bath Rugby Plc, it does not form part of the incorporated company.

Each season Coaches are appointed to specific age grades; each age grade has a Lead Coach supported by a number of Assistant Coaches. Often these coaches will remain with the age group from U13 through to U16, when it is hoped that players will move on into the Colts Squad (U17/U18/U19), preparing them for the transition into adult rugby.

All Junior Section coaches hold at least RFU Level 1, and are encouraged to attain RFU Level II qualifications, many are qualified referees, each age group has personnel qualified in first aid, and each age group is issued with its own first aid kit. In addition, a Team Manager assists the smooth running of the age grade dealing with administration and welfare matters for that particular group, reporting directly to the Chairman and Committee.

Bath Junior Section has an Equal Opportunity Policy and a Child Protection Policy, providing a safe, disciplined environment for young men to develop and learn the game, before leading them into the adult game. All coaches and administrators are subject to Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks through the RFU. (The RFU have directed that checks are compulsory from 1st January 2007).

Everyone involved at "Bath Junior Section" is a volunteer, many are parents of the playing membership, all seek to advance the game of Rugby Football, in the Bath area and beyond!
