Peterborough Sports are the visitors to Barwell on Tuesday 7th January for a 7.45pm kick off. This is the 3rd game of the new year for both sides and many will be hoping it is as exciting as the reverse fixture in December which ended 5-4 to Sports. Barwell will be hoping for a different outcome whatever the score may be.
Sports are currently 3rd in the table with games in hand over 2nd placed Bromsgrove Sporting. There are only 4 points between the two teams and Sports have 3 games in hand. However, in this tight league both Banbury United and Coalville Town are hot on the heels of the Turbines. Last time out, Sports won 2-0 at Rushall Olympic with a draw at home to Biggleswade Town in the game before that. The last defeat for Sports came 6 games ago against Royston Town.
Barwell are 12th in the table following the defeat at AFC Rushden & Diamonds on Saturday. The Canaries have accumulated 32 points so far with the last win coming on New Year's Day against Banbury United. After 3 defeats over Christmas the win over Banbury United was a fine performance, particularly with 10 men for 60 minutes, and the Canaries will be looking to build on that win going in to this tough looking fixture.
Barwell will be without Jake Whitmore for this game. Jac Redhead and Jamie McAteer are also doubts for this game.
The game kicks off at the UK Flooring Direct Stadium, Kirkby Road at 7.45pm on Tuesday.
