Faddiley lock horns with the Nantwich Pirates for the 4th time this season as the two battle it out for the Crewe Regional Division One Cup.

This will be the third cup meeting between the two Nantwich sides as we both met in the President Cup earlier on in the season.
The first game ended in a 2-2 draw with Pete WIlliams netting a 92nd free kick to take it to penalties but there was a mix up with the penalties as some Pirate players who were subs took some of the penalties and upon Faddiley challenging this the game was replayed.
The replayed game it was a close affair again as Faddiley took a 2-0 lead with goals from Paul Ashley (Pen) and Chris Bedford making it 2-0 at HT. Pirates came back in the second half and two quick goal made it 2-2 before Chris Bedford netted the winner 18 mins from time.

The teams faced each other last Wednesday (3rd May) as Faddiley only required a point to secure the league title. Things didn't start well and it Pirates quick out of the blocks taking a 2-0 lead after 7 mins. Faddiley reduced the deficit when Jamie Baker netted from captain Richard Ford's cross and then a great solo effort from former Crewe Alex Academy and Whitchurch Alport midfielder Kieran Smith levelled the game.
A few mins after the euphoria of the goal Pirate took the lead again when they converted a penalty. Richard Ford then broke the offside trap and netted calmly past the on coming keeper Andy FIeld to make it 3-3.

So this leads us up to the Division One Cup final at the Cumberland Arena, Faddiley have progressed to this stage with results against Cheshire Cat (6-0), C&N United (7-1).
Then in the semi final Faddiley faced Leighton who were always going to provide a stern test even after Faddiley took the lead after 55 seconds Faddiley found the Leighton keeper in irresistible form and after 55 mins it was Leighton who were ahead 2-1. As Faddiley changed formation and launched wave after wave of attacks the Leighton defence including the keeper held out until the 96th min when former Shrewsbury Town academy and Whitchuch Alport winger Jacob Farley netted to send the game to the dreaded penalties.

Both teams fired their first two home then former Malpas/Betley keeper Josh WIlliams pulled off a hat trick of saves while Jacob Farleigh calmly slotted home to send Faddiley into the final winning 4-2.

Nantwich Pirates received a bye in the first round as JS Bailey could not raise a team. Their quarter final opponents were Sandbach Town and it was town that took the lead early on the game and who were wasteful of chances before Pirates took a 3-1 lead, Sandbach netted near the end but it proved only to be a consolation.

Pirates then faced White Horse in the semi final and it was the Pirates who took an early lead from a mistake in the Horse defence. They then double their lead 20 mins in but Horse quickly responded 8 mins later to make 2-1. Horse went close on a few occasions and hit the post but it wasn't until 75th min and a wonder strike made it 2-2 and that's the way it ended.

Just like Faddiley's semi final this one went to a penalty shoot out. Horse missed their two penalties which were saved and the Pirates were too clinical and secured a 4-2 win to set up the final.

So this Sunday at the Cumberland Arena the two teams meet with a kick off at 6pm. The man in the middle is Holmes Chapel ref Ian Hurdle while he will have Kriss Spencer and Jay Rowlands as his officials running the line.
