- DON’T force an unwilling child to take part in sport.
- CHILDREN involve themselves in organised sport for their OWN enjoyment – NOT yours.
- REMEMBER – children are NOT professional entertainers.
- NEVER ridicule or shout at your/other children for making a mistake or losing a competition.
- SUPPORT all efforts to eradicate verbal, physical and psychological abuse of children in sport.
- ENCOURAGE your/other children to always play by the rules.
- TEACH your child that effort and teamwork are as important as winning.
- TEACH your child that enjoyment is more important than the result.
- DON’T question publicly the judgement of officials/coaches and NEVER their honesty.
- REFRAIN from entering into a heated argument with any other spectator or parent; this kind of behaviour only serves to upset and embarrass your child.
- CONDEMN the use of violence in all forms.
- RECOGNISE the value and importance of coaches – they give time energy and resources to provide guidance and activity for your child.
- MAKE YOURSELF AWARE of the Club’s Child Protection Policy.
