4. Rugby Secretary


Rugby Secretary

The Rugby Secretary is the administrator for the playing section. Your remit is broad; you'll be the keeper of player registration records, all rugby related correspondence, financial controller of the playing section budget, international ticket coordinator and match day manager.

Ideally, you'll need to be:

  • Well organised
  • Careful and confident with figures, cash and cheques
  • A capable manager who can delegate effectively
  • Approachable and good with people
  • IT literate

What you'll do:
  • Act as the main communication link between the Committee and the playing section
  • Manage and record all inward and outward club correspondence, making sure the necessary actions are followed up
  • Communicate any important matters between the club and WRU, MD, Referees etc
  • Manage on-line registration (and de-registration) using the myWRU website.
  • Organise the necessary insurance policies for players
  • Complete the annual WRU grant application
  • Ensure affiliations are kept up to date and competition entries are completed on time.
  • Apply to the WRU for our allocation of international tickets
  • Devise an impartial system to ensure ticket distribution is done fairly to all members and sponsors
  • Plan and monitor a budget each year
  • Deposit money and issue receipts promptly
  • Know exactly where the playing section stands financially at any time, and keep the committee informed of any trends and issues
  • Provide transport and playing fields
  • Manage the match day team to ensure the day runs smoothly, e.g. Programmes, catering sponsors etc.

You'll liaise with:

Club Committee, Treasurer, Commercial Manager, Head Coach, Fixture Secretary, Catering Staff

How much time it will take up:

About 6 hours a week, mainly in the evenings and at weekends.
