Sunday saw another good turn out despite
It being the end of half term week. Some rucking and tackling practice again started the session, we were focusing on making the ruck as stable as possible and ensuring that the first player in gets in a low and stable position. With many players confidence improving with the tackle, we worked on head and shoulder positioning in a lower contact position to emphasise the safety aspects of this.
With roughly 6 a-side, there were enough players to spend a decent amount of time in game scenarios. A quick small sided game got the players thinking about use of space in attack and defence and then they were in to a full game. It was really good to see that the players are getting better at using the width of the pitch, and when under pressure, many are now making sure that tackles are successful.
The U12’s were keen to play against us again, after the successes of previous encounters the U 11’s were feeling confident that they could again play well against the older age group.
It proved to be a harder game, the speed at which the U12’s got in to the ruck and passed the ball out, showed our players the importance of the training in these areas has been. Some really great play non the less was seen, when out players got the ball they were driving forward and starting to spot gaps. A great game.
We are at home again next week with a visiting team so it will be great to see how the U 11’s fair. Thanks again for all your support!
