Hebburn Town:
Daniel Moore’s side currently occupy the fourth and final play off spot in 5th position after the first nine rounds of the Northern Premier League Premier Division. The newly promoted side have enjoyed an excellent start to the season winning five of their opening nine matches, losing two and drawing two with those results accumulating 17 points. In their last outing, the Hornets faced Whitby Town. Despite an early goal from Olly Martin, the Hornets ended up on the wrong side of an eight goal thriller as a Jake Charles double secured a comprehensive six goals to two victory for Whitby at the Hebburn Sports Ground.
Last term, the Hornets gained promotion to the Premier Division via the NPL Division One West where they pipped fellow Premier Division side Stockton Town to the title by one point. 81 points was enough to secure the title with 25 league wins along the way. As well as the league title, Hebburn Town also had the leaves top goalscorer in their ranks in the shape of Amar Purewal. Purewal will be a player that Lancaster City should be weary of as he currently leads the line this season for Hebburn along with strike partner Olly Martin with five goals each.
Lancaster City:
Lancaster City remain unbeaten in the league campaign following Tuesday evening’s one all draw away to Prescot Cables. Nathan Koehler’s first half header was superbly cancelled out by Aaron Bennett’s long rage strike in the dying embers of the affair. The draw sees Lancaster City sit in 7th place just a mere two points off tomorrows’ opponents. A win for City with over favourable results could see the Dolly Blues climb the table. Lancaster City’s last victory came against Stockton Town so Chris Willcock will be hoping to emulate the fortunes of two weeks ago against the Hornets. Tomorrow afternoon will also be the first meeting between the two sides.
Tomorrow afternoon’s fixture could see a fans favourite make his 50th appearance for the Dolly Blues as Ed Ikpakwu closes in on half a century. Ikpakwu made his 49th appearance on Tuesday as a second half substitute, replacing Aaron Fleming at half time. Ikpakwu joined the club for his third spell back in January as Chris Willcock’s first signing. Ed Ikpakwu joined the club in 2020 following his release from Leicester City before moving to Hyde United, before returning to the Giant Axe. His last move away from the club came two seasons ago where he linked up with Colne. Since his return at the start of the year, Ed has been an ever present member of Chris Willcock’s side with some superb performances along the way.
