2. Lochar Thistle 2016/2017

2016/2017

Lochar started of their 4th season of the South League with several changes in personnel. Manager Craig Fraser brought in Jamie Crosbie, Eddie McKeand, Tommy Goss, Kieran Roan, Jordan Jones and Robert Muir. The first 5 names all left the club throughout the season. A good start from the lads had Lochar near the top of the league, but this was against teams who the club should be looking to beat. Only one game against the top 4 sides had resulted in defeat. The club parted ways with the manager after 6 weeks of the season due to internal matters, the club were then very lucky to appoint ex Gretna 2008 coach Nikki White as manager. Nikki brought with him striker Adam McMath and also succeeded in bringing 3 loan players from QOS u20's. Nikki led the Cup to Alba Cup success in December with a 4-0 win over Nithsdale, this also meaning the club would contest the South and East Cup Winners Shield v Lothian Thistle, but the impressive Lothian side ran out 6-1 winners. The league campaign stuttered along most of the season with the club finishing in a disappointing 9th position. Nikki had added Steven Woodward as Assistant Manager. In April the club held a fine George Kirk Memorial Trophy Day which seen a large number of players and ex players participating in a 6 a side tournament. The Kirk family were happy with the day which will turn into an annual event each year. Kieran Krause ended the season as Top Goalscorer with Darren martin scooping majority of the Player of the Year awards.
