Lions Double Away weekend at Chiswick RFC!

Lions vs HAC (A)

This weekend, the Regional 2 Thames League kicks off the new year with a mouth-watering clash between the top two teams in the table. League leaders London Scottish Lions take on HAC (at Chiswick RFC) in what promises to be a thrilling encounter at the halfway point of the season. This game marks the first fixture of 2025, and the Lions will look to replicate their sensational form from the first half of the campaign, having won 11 out of 12 games so far - a strong start to the new year could set the tone for a triumphant run-in.

Just one point separates these two sides, but the Lions hold the advantage of a game in hand. A victory this weekend would provide some much-needed breathing space at the top of the table as the Lions aim to maintain their position as league leaders. However, the Lions will not need reminding of the last time they faced HAC. Back in September, HAC handed the Lions their only loss of the season with a strong performance at King’s House - this game offers the Lions not only the chance to extend their lead, but also the opportunity to settle the score and show how far they’ve come since that early-season defeat.

Both teams have been scoring freely this season, with each side racking up 10 try-bonus points in their campaigns so far. This attacking prowess suggests that fans could be in for a high-scoring spectacle. However, with the stakes so high, will it instead turn into a tense, defence-dominated battle? Either way, it’s set to be a memorable match.

It would be great to have the Lions supporters turn out in force and make your voices heard - your roars of support from the touchline could make all the difference in this crucial clash!

Lions B's vs Quintin RFC (A)

Rugby is back, and the Middlesex Merit Bowl Quarter Finals are here! After a three-week Christmas break, the London Scottish Lions B’s return to action in a high-stakes knockout clash against Quintin RFC.

This game marks the first fixture of 2025 for the Lions B’s, and what better way to kick off the new year than with a game of knockout rugby? The Lions B’s and Quintin met earlier this season in the Middlesex Merit Division 1 league, with the Lions securing a 28-17 victory in October. Whilst that result, and the current league standings suggest the Lions B’s hold the upper hand — 1st in the table versus 4th — knockout rugby is a different beast. Expect both teams to throw everything they’ve got into this quarter-final clash.

The Lions B’s are an attacking force on the road, having scored more points (187 in 5 games) away from home than any other team in their league. On the other hand, Quintin boast one of the best defensive records at home, sitting 4th in the table for least points conceded at home. This intriguing match-up of firepower and resilience adds another layer of excitement to an already tantalising fixture.

With a semi-final spot on the line, supporters can expect a hard-fought and entertaining game. This is knockout rugby at its finest - unpredictable, exhilarating, and unforgiving – we hope to see you there!
