DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

Newent R.F.C. Disciplinary Committee will meet in the event of -

A Newent player being sent off.
A written complaint being received from the Rugby Union, Constituent Body, Referees Association, or another rugby club.
A member of the club behaving unacceptably, and contrary to the relevant code of conduct, before, during, or immediately after a game or club event.

The Disciplinary Committee will consist of the President, Chairman, Secretary and Club Captain. Only if a junior or mini player is sent off the Disciplinary Committee will consist of the first three plus the relevant Junior Team Manager.
At a meeting to discuss a mini or junior player being sent off, a parent or guardian may attend.

In the case of a player being sent off the Disciplinary Committee must-
Familiarise themselves with RFU Disciplinary Regulations.
Advise the GRFU Disciplinary Secretary within 48 hours of the incident.
Convene a meeting within 7 days.
Advise player of time, date and place of GRFU hearing, and issue him with copies of any disciplinary papers.
Advise the GRFU Disciplinary Secretary if the player cannot attend, and request the presence of the referee if required.
Send a club representative to accompany the player, but ensure anything said in his defence is consistent with the club’s codes of conduct.
Ensure that any sanctions are actioned and any disciplinary costs are paid within 21 days. These costs to be recovered from the player.
The Disciplinary Committee MAY make the player illegible for selection prior to the GRFU hearing, depending on the circumstances.

In the case of a complaint or bad behaviour the Disciplinary Committee must -
Convene a meeting within 7 days.
Allow the member to present his case, and to bring one witness to support him.
Any sanction will take immediate effect and will take into consideration the type of complaint and the members past record in the club.
Advise any sanctions in writing, giving the reasons for its decision.
