Bootle Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Cox - who is the first of Joe Doran’s summer signings and joins the club from Runcorn Linnets.

The much sought after forward hit the headlines a prolific goal scorer from an early age, after scoring a record breaking five times for Liverpool School Boys in their English Schools’ Trophy final win over Cambridge at Anfield. Cox then had a spell at Huddersfield Town as youth scholar before joining local rivals AFC Liverpool, upon his release from the Yorkshire club.

And it was at AFC, were Cox became known as a prolific goal scorer in the Non-League world. In his first full season with the club he scored 33 times in all competitions. Cox departed the Reds in February this year with an impressive record of 77 goals in 111 appearances for the club.

Cox then joined fellow Merseyside rivals Runcorn Linnets where he hit the ground the running. Having already scored 24 times for AFC, Cox hit a hat-trick in his debut for the Linnets against Abbey Hey. He would eventually finish the season with six goals for the Linnets taking his tally for the season to 30.

Speaking on the signing Bootle manager Joe Doran said: “ Ryan is a player I have admired for many years and exactly the type of player we want. "I'm delighted he's agreed to join us as he interest from everywhere".

Ryan has been training with the rest of the squad and cant wait to get started.
