Egg Chasing Lions Retain T20 Title

Rotherham Clifton Rugbys, Egg Chasing Lions, retained the Annual Twenty20 Cricket Title, after putting the Clifton Golf Society to the sword.

The years most anticipated sporting event of the year, Rotherham Cliftons Annual Twenty20 Cricket Fixture, took place on bank holiday Sunday, with the athleticism on show totally eclipsing that seen at this years Rio Olympics.

Egg Chasing Lions captain, Olly 'Trex' Dixon, won the toss for his side and elected to put the Golf Society into bat first.

The opening batting partnership for the Golfers made a valiant stand, with Callum 'Superstar' Emery, falling in the third over for a massive 2, having seen his wickets being smashed to pieces, by the pacey Rob. John Dudley followed quickly for a duck on his second ball. Chris 'Concrete' Emery also getting out for a duck.

A fantastic batting performance by ringer 'Extras' earned him the Golfers top score of the day, '20'. Nico followed closely behind on 13, to help post their final score of 43 all out. Shaun 'Grassy' Green the only member not to lose a wicker for a huge score of '0'.

Opening batting pair for the Lions Neal and Aaron Lonsdale, managed to score 1 between them, before they both got out.. Matt 'Tiny' Platts gave those observing a lesson in grace and elegance as he knocked the ball all over Clifton Lane, for his top score of 29.

The Lions finished on 55 for 6, not needing their full batting order to knock off the massive score posted by the Golfers.

An Egg Chasing Spokesman said after the game 'We are really pleased to retain our title and bragging rights for another year. Our bowling attack really got into them, they were like lambs to the slaughter. We cant wait for next year, when we can show once again that its all about #LionsNotLambs'.

An under pressure Tony Gutteridge, Golf Society Chairman of selectors, following a third successive defeated, commented 'Heads are going to roll!!!!!'
