Gavin Rothery started his career as a youth with Leeds United. He was named on the first team bench for the game against Rotherham United in 2005 but after signing a new contract he suffered a major ankle injury required reconstructive surgery.Following his release in 2008 the attacking midfielder had short spells with York City, Harrogate and Carlisle before making a name for himself at Guiseley.
Making over 160 league appearances over a six year, injury hit, period he left Nethermoor in 2016.
Since then Rothery has had spells with Gainsborough Trinity and Bradford Park Avenue before signing with Shaw Lane for the 2017/18 season.
Injury struck three games into the season but Rothery returned to action in December.
