The last couple of seasons has provided an excellent foundation from which to build in the season ahead and beyond. The journey that the club has been on over recent seasons has highlighted the determination, the strength of character and the ambition to move our club forward.

This season will provide the challenges that all of the club have earned the right to take on. The first team take on the challenges on the Durham and Northumberland Division 2 for the first time in over twenty years, for those who were part of the club at that time will appreciate the task ahead of the firsts this season. During the summer the summer the coaching set up has been enhanced and new players have joined the club, which will add a new dimension to the club which will serve to increase the first team experience in the higher league.

For the Mariners new territory is being entered into with much tougher and experienced opposition with their promotion to the Croquet League. The strength of the Mariners highlights the strength and depth that is developing at the club which will enhance the Mariners' chances this season as well as providing the depth needed for the first team as well as the foundations for the Spartans.

The introduction of youth rugby to the club is perhaps the most significant development in recent times to the long term future of the club, adding to this ongoing off field developments to improve the facilities serves to add an exciting area of development for the club.
