We welcome all rugby enthusiasts and student-athletes, regardless of experience level, to join DU Rugby. This invitation extends to both undergraduate and graduate students.
In the last decade, DU Rugby has made significant strides, reaching the final four twice and attaining a national ranking as high as #3. In 2020, we proudly represented our frontier region in the CRC's, securing a position as one of the Top 8 sevens teams in the nation. Notably, we've claimed the title of Las Vegas 7s Champions twice, in 2019 and 2020. Most recently, we triumphed in the High Peaks League, earning a Nationals berth and finishing in the top 12 in the country. Our success also includes placing players on esteemed teams like the Collegiate All-American team and the Small College all-star team, many of whom joined the University of Denver without prior rugby experience.
DU Rugby enjoys top-notch facilities and exceptional coaching. The Diane Wendt Sports Fields serve as our home ground, with Olympian Cody Melphy and a roster of current and former professional athletes coaching both the Men's and Women's sides.
Our training regimen consists of three field sessions per week and two gym sessions. Field practices take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, with an additional session on Fridays at 4:30 pm. Gym sessions are TBD. We compete in both 15s during the Fall/Winter season and transition to 7s in the Spring. As members of the High Peaks Collegiate Rugby Conference, we engage in hybrid league play against D1A, D2, and D3 teams.
