2. Recent Developments

Two years ago the future of Yapham CC was in doubt, following the death of the landowner from whom the Club rented the ground. But it was given a lifeline through the opportunity to purchase the ground, and launched a major fundraising appeal. Last autumn, thanks to generous donations and considerable fundraising efforts (including sponsored cricket competitions by the Juniors in the middle of winter!), the Club finally succeeded in becoming the owners of the ground - and in fact was able to obtain part of a neighbouring field to give space for future expansion.

The Club now runs 4 senior men's teams, The 1st XI plays in the York Senior League, and finished last season as Champions of Division 5A. Two years ago the Club started a 2nd XI in the East Riding Independent League to provide opportunities for our younger players to make the transition to senior cricket - and in only their second season were runners-up of Division 3. Other senior games are midweek in the Foss Evening League, plus Sunday friendlies - and there is a Yapham Ladies team too.
