46. About Community and Rugby Development

As part of our ongoing commitment to support and develop rugby in Sutherland and Ross-shire, we have established Ross Sutherland's Community and Rugby Development (CaRD) Team.

John Mann has recently been appointed as the club's first full-time Rugby Development Officer.

For the 16/17 season he will be supported by Connor Sinclair, Harry Mackay, and Mitchell McSpadden.

Our aim is to get more kids playing more rugby more of the time, and we have worked closely with stakeholders - Active Schools Co-ordinators, PE and Head teachers - throughout our catchment to establish a programme of activities that is mutually supportive.

We recognise that geography and other social factors can have a significant impact on kids' ability to participate in sport, and we believe that delivering rugby activities in local schools can provide lasting benefits for the kids and their communities, as well as or our club.

This initiative is only made possible by the support of the Port of Cromarty Firth who are our CaRD sponsors in Easter Ross, Scottish Rugby, and all the club members who have been fundraising to support our community coaching.

For further details of ongoing activities see our "What's on" page, and to find out how you or your kids can get involved email us at ross.sutherlandrdo@gmail.com
