The Club has secured much needed funding for Rugby Development within the club and schools.
Our President, Daryl Hayler MBE negotiated with the RSA Trust, chaired by Ex Bacavian Gary Walker, to make a major investment in the Club over the next 3 years.
The Role
Funding to secure investment in the employment of a full time Rugby Youth Development Officer by Stevenage Town Rugby Club for a three year programme of activity. The primary role of this individual is to co-ordinate and implement a Rugby Development Plan within the schools of Stevenage and the surrounding area for the stakeholders.

include; RSA Trust [Main sponsor], MBDA [sponsor] - Stevenage Town Rugby Club (STRFC).
RSA Trust is a charity created in February 2004 and has distributed over one million pounds to over forty good causes.
The RSA Trust is run by a board of trustees. They comprise of voluntary members of the business community.
Aims of the Trust:-
The Trust looks for causes that have an impact on, primarily, the local community for instance in the areas of:
•Creating new businesses
•Supporting business & community businesses
•Providing employment
•Motivating youth
Our President Daryl Hayler has received a cheque from Trustees of the RSA Trust.
MBDA – [sponsor] - are an internationally renowned defence business, established in the local area that fosters good community links with various local voluntary organisations
MBDA especially supports causes that develop youth through sport and community based activities.
Our President Daryl Hayler MBE has already received the funds from MBDA to support the above project.
Aims & Objectives
The primary objectives for the coming years are:
• Continued development of extra-curricula rugby activities such as lunchtime clubs and after-school clubs within existing partner schools and developing these activities within schools currently excluded.
• Further development of inter-school league competition at all ages and both sexes to firmly establish a tradition of rugby within the local secondary schools.
• Further development of Easter, Summer and Autumn Rugby Coaching Schemes.
• Primary School TAG Festivals and leagues.
• Development of Corporate TAG Festivals.
• Further Development of a “pyramid” of coaching resources at STRFC through mentoring and personal coach development through RFU coaching stages, contributing to a general improvement in the career structure of the coaches and encouraging sustainability to the coaching resources.
• Further development of girl’s [U13 to U18] rugby outside of school and development of competitive fixtures.
• Emphasis on encouraging sports achievement with youths aged U13-U21
