8. London Scottish Rugby Club Code of Conduct (Minis, Juniors and Lions)

Introduction

At London Scottish Rugby Club, we are committed to promoting a culture of respect, inclusion, and fair play. This Code of Conduct serves as a guideline for behaviour and responsibilities to ensure a positive and safe environment for all members and participants.

1. Coaches

Professionalism: Maintain the highest standards of conduct, treating all individuals with respect and courtesy.
Integrity: Ensure that your behaviour is fair and transparent, avoiding any actions that might bring the club or sport into disrepute.
Responsibility: Prioritise the welfare of each player, providing a safe environment for training and games.
Development: Commit to the personal and athletic development of players, encouraging positive behaviour both on and off the field.
Knowledge and Compliance: Stay informed of the latest coaching techniques, the rules of rugby, and adhere strictly to both club and RFU regulations.

2. Players

Respect: Show respect for coaches, referees, opponents, and teammates. Challenge your own limits respectfully and in the spirit of fair competition.
Discipline: Adhere to the rules and spirit of the game. Accept decisions from the referees and other officials without dispute.
Team Commitment: Attend training sessions and matches on time, prepared, and ready to participate. Communicate openly with your coaches about any concerns or conflicts.
Sportsmanship: Display good sportsmanship before, during, and after games. Acknowledge good play from others, including opponents.

3. Parents and Guardians

Positive Reinforcement: Encourage your child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
Support: Show appreciation for volunteers, coaches, and officials who facilitate your child's participation in rugby. Avoid coaching from the sidelines and undermining officials.
Role Modelling: Exhibit respectful behaviour at all times. This includes refraining from derogatory comments and avoiding any form of emotional or physical abuse.
Communication: Engage with club officials and coaches positively and constructively, especially regarding your child’s development and welfare.

4. Spectators

Positive Environment: Cheer and support in a positive manner, refraining from criticism of game officials and players.
Respect: Acknowledge the efforts of all players rather than the outcome of the game. Respect the authority of officials and their decisions.
Conduct: Avoid using profane language or causing disturbances. Spectators should contribute to a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere.
Appreciation: Value the voluntary contributions of coaches, organisers, and club officials who facilitate the sporting experience.

5. Club Members

Uphold Standards: Maintain a high standard of conduct that reflects positively on the club and the community.
Active Engagement: Participate in club activities, showing willingness to volunteer and support club functions.
Respect for Club Property: Treat facilities and equipment with care, ensuring that club resources are used responsibly.
Financial Integrity: Fulfil financial obligations promptly, including timely payment of fees and dues.
